Jesus was baptized and taught His apostles to go and do likewise. Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God! We become members of the Body of Christ as we are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission.
We are excited to assist you in Baptizing your child(ren) at St. Charles. Please review the 6-step Baptism process below. We look forward to guiding you in the sacramental preparation and helping you raise your child in the Catholic faith.
Our Baptism Coordinator will call you upon receiving your interest in Baptizing your child at St. Charles. On that call, the Baptism Coordinator will review the 6 steps of Baptism, and answer any initial questions. For further support email or call 262-367-0800 ext 205.
We encourage all families seeking to Baptize their child at St. Charles to become registered and active St. Charles parishioners. We are excited to help you raise your child in the faith. St. Charles is a family-friendly parish ready to welcome you.
Visit register here to become a parishioner.
If your family has a special connection with St. Charles (for example, you or your spouse attended St. Charles School or your parents or grandparents are active parishioners), please let us know.
Below is a list of the required forms:
1. Read the Baptisms FAQ Document for a Q&A on topics like how to select a godparent
2. Fill out the Baptism Request Form
3. Email a copy of the Godparent Letter of Reference to each godparent for completion
Godparents help you raise your child in the Catholic faith. We ask parents to select one godmother and one godfather who are Catholic role models i.e. those who actively participate in their Catholic Parish and have received their three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. This allows for seamless support for you and your child.
Mentor Couples are tenured St. Charles Parishioners who are experienced with our Baptism process. They will share best practices in raising your child in the faith. Your Mentor Couple will reach out to you to schedule a meeting soon, and support you along the way through your Baptism journey.
Meeting with this Mentor Couple is required but very informal; it replaces a formal Baptism class.
We find the Holy Spirit guides these couple pairings. We cannot wait to see the fruits of your meeting!
Once all above requirements are met, we can schedule your child's rehearsal date and Baptism date on a first come, first served basis.
To recap, the requirements include:
Note: Scheduling is subject to the priest availability and parish calendar of events.
The Baptism rehearsal is held in the church on Saturday morning the day before the Baptism, and is led by our Director of Liturgy. Parents and godparents are required to be present.
The rehearsal ensures clarity regarding the attire, logistics of the church, and parent and godparent roles during the Baptism. You will also have time to change your child(ren) into their white garment.
On the day of the Baptism, please arrive 30 minutes prior to check in with the Director of Liturgy and/or Baptism Coordinator.
Baptizing your child in the Catholic faith is only the beginning for the pure joy that you and your family will experience as active members of our community. Visit the list of resources below for ways to get plugged into faith, fellowship, and ministry opportunities. We will be praying for you!
